ALAMO - Granville Weir, 75, lifelong Alamo area resident, died at 2:07 a.m. Thursday at Culver Hospital where he had been a patient one day. He had been seriously ill about one week. Born near Alamo Dec. 5, 1893, he was the son of John and Bessie Smith Weir. On Oct. 7, 1914, he married Ethel Newkirk. Mr. Weir was a farmer in the Alamo area most of his life and a member of the Alamo Christian Church which he served as a deacon. He was also a member and past master of the Alamo Masonic Lodge 144, and a past patron of the Alamo Chapter 498, Order of Eastern Star. He served as chairman of the Montgomery County ASC office, retiring three years ago from that office. Mr. Weir was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Agnes Gray. Survivors include the widow; a son, Lawrence A. Weir of Rt. 1, Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Dunlap of Rt. 3, Crawfordsville; two granddaughters, Mrs. Sharon O'Gorman of Lafayette and Janet Dunlap of Rt. 3, Crawfordsville, and two nephews, Leslie Weir of Rt. 3, Crawfordsville and Raymond Gray of Rt. 1, Waynetown. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Hugh Dooley will officiate, assisted by Rev. John Servies. Burial will be in Alamo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday. The Alamo Masonic Lodge will conduct rites at 8 p.m. Saturday. - jlr
